Why are dental x-rays recommended?

Not all of the tooth surfaces and their supporting structures are visible. To complete a thorough dental examination it may be recommended that some radiographs be taken.

Dental radiographs are required:

  • To check around any large restorations and in between the teeth for any stagnation areas, decay or infection
  • To investigate the tissues which support the teeth for gum disease
  • For the early diagnosis of developing problems
